CHAIR YOGA

Keeping your independence as you age is vital. Staying strong, mobile and flexible is key to allow you to live your life with relative ease.

Even though this class is chair-based we still get a really good workout, working all the major joints and muscles of the body. We also work with balance - so important as we get older - to help prevent falls and injury.

"I do chair yoga because I enjoy it and I believe it helps to maintain mobility and balance, which I value highly."

"I appreciate the elements of relaxation and breath exercises and always feel better at the end of a session than I did at the start."
Please note, this class isn't just for seniors but anyone who prefers a chair-based practice, maybe due to injury, illness or ability.
"You are always welcoming, friendly and energetic, encouraging each participant to achieve the very best they can with absolutely no judgement".
Being a yoga class, we don't just work on a physical level but also with the breath, learning to breathe well and how to use the breath to calm and relax. It is so important to keep our mental wellbeing healthy as well as our bodies. The class starts and ends with a guided relaxation.

This class can give you:

- helps maintain your independence - keeping your joints working and muscles strong, less chance of falls
- increased flexibility
- better posture

- physical activity
- mindful relaxation
- better balance
- a feeling of wellbeing
- some "me time"
- a fun and friendly community to be part of
- something to look forward to that is good for you!
- a chance to make friends

This class is offered as in-person class in Hampton Hill, south west London and also as a livestream zoom class to anyone who prefers to stay at home and practice.  If you can't make the live day/time you can purchase the recording of that week's live class to practise with at a time that suits you or rent a video from the archived on-demand video library.

"This class helps with my physical limitations (arthritis/back damage). It's the only exercise I get now that I can no longer go out walking. There is nothing in my locality so this zoom class really is a life-changer. I like feeling part of group in spite of not ever being in the same room as your other participants!".

I am pleased to be part of, and recognised by, Dementia Friendly Communities.
"We like the recording because one issue with Alzheimer's is the difficulty of getting ready for a specific event. The recording allows us to manage when we have the class."
