Chair Yoga

Using yoga to help you live your best life.
Picture
"I do chair yoga because I enjoy it and I believe it helps to maintain mobility and balance, which I value highly."
Keeping your independence as you age is vital. Staying strong, mobile and flexible is key to allow you to live your life with relative ease.

Even though this class is chair-based we still get a really good workout, working all the major joints and muscles of the body, including hands and fingers (so important we keep them working for us). We also work with balance - again, so important as we get older - to help prevent falls and injury. You can join me in person in Hampton Hill on a Tuesday morning, or live via zoom as I live-stream this class so you can join from the comfort of your own home, wherever you are in the world! I also offer a weekly recording of this class if you can't join the live class/day/time.

Being a yoga class, we don't just work on a physical level but also with the breath, learning to breathe well and how to use the breath to calm and relax. It is so important to keep our mental wellbeing healthy as well as our bodies. The class starts and ends with a guided relaxation.

Please note, this class isn't just for seniors but anyone who prefers a chair-based practice, maybe due to injury, illness or ability.

"This class helps with my physical limitations (arthritis/back damage). It's the only exercise I get now that I can no longer go out walking. There is nothing in my locality so this zoom class really is a life-changer. I like feeling part of group in spite of not ever being in the same room as your other participants!".

Dementia friendly

I am delighted to be part of, and recognised by, Dementia Friendly Communities. Anyone who suffers from dementia is welcome to join my classes - either in person, on zoom or you might find it helpful to buy the class recording to do in your own time. Carers are welcome to class too.

"We like the recording because one issue with Alzheimer's is the difficulty of getting ready for a specific event. The recording allows us to manage when we have the class."
"I appreciate the elements of relaxation and breath exercises and always feel better at the end of a session than I did at the start."
